We all know what happened to FBi radio this year. Some chick swam out to Richard Branson on an island somewhere in the Caribbean, asked him for 1 million clams, and well despite all the awesome hype and the love inn that happened on their morning show.... it failed.
However some good did come of it, they received a boost in popularity, heaps of benefit concerts were put on around the city and people pretended to care for a while and others acted like they had always been massive fans of this 'independent music'. Well for all you guys out there still with the lust for FBi here is your chance to flaunt it from your boom boxes.
Tracks were donated from the likes of The Mess Hall, Holly Throsby, Cloud Control, Sarah Blasko and the big ticket item Metronomy who add 'Heartbreaker' from their live show in Sydney back in early 2009. The album also features, the for some reason adored, Philidelphia Grand Jury who's appeal still confuses me, but they give it some more of that commercial appeal it needs to sell to listeners not necessarily tuned into FBi daily. The album is a good listen, with Blasko's almost flawless performance of 'We won't run' the album is well worth a listen at least, and with The Drones performing 'Cold and Sober' it becomes almost engrossing hearing not only the difference of variety in music, but also the reactions of the crowds at the respective venues.
With all proceeds headed back to FBi to keep them treading water, if you don't buy it for the music alone, think that you are doing a great service to a truly vital cog in the Australian music industry, and that my friends is worth all the twenty something bucks it costs.
