How to eat like a king, for under $3 dollars

migorengWhilst the food connoisseurs of this website will have you chowing down on braised ducks arses and scorched frog nads, I know where your heart really is: In your wallet. We all want something cheap and we want it pretty frigging quickly! Believe me it is ok to feel this way, and if you have no issues sticking with me I will show you a snack that will fill you up for days AND it will really help your budget. This sumptuous feast filled me up daily on a tour around half of this wide brown land, from Melbourne to Adelaide, from Port Campbell to Policemen’s Point this kept the heart beating, and left the hunger pangs for dead.

Ingredients:

1) Packets of Mi Goreng Noodles – This will set you back the princely sum of around about 97 cents. And whilst this may break some budgets, I think you could scrap together a bit of change from your drawers to make this happen. These noodles are inconceivably good. Whether you want a snack, a feast or something to impress in laws, these are the ticket! Go with either 2 originals or, for a real experience, One Roast Chicken flavour and one Original (according to a friend of mine with vast experience in the alchemy of noodle consumption). Once you have cooked the noodles by throwing boiling water on them for three minutes, mix in the various little sauces and powders they give you with them. Once done move onto the next step.

2) Meat – Now this ingredient is in the floating role. You can use whatever meat you like however if you are vegetarian you may want to miss this. I have had this feast with pork, beef, chicken and lamb, but if you kids on your health kicks want something better for the heart, then go with Tuna, its also good for your brains. Tuna wise I usually go with the unflavored ones, as they have some terrible choices. If you ever find yourself staring down the barrel of the Japanese version Wasabi and ginger, run for the hills. No good will come from that can. Get your meat, chop it up fine, and slam it in.

3) 1 tin of peas and Carrots – Tinned goods can have all ranges of impacts on the digestive system, but this one is good stuff. Peas and Carrots in a can save all the hassle of cutting and slicing and dicing, and it costs about 85 cents.

4) Consume – It is usually best consumed using a big old bowl and in front of the TV at 4am watching sport, middle of the day watching the Midday Show with Kerri Anne (is that still on?) whilst it also does wonders for tonsillitis.

There you have it: A meal that would rock Zeus’s world and all of it costing less than 3 dollars, plus whatever meat you have left over in the fridge. Enjoy this week’s tight arse cooking adventure.
